Twelve Days Of Deathwing - Day Six

Call The Banners...

Why does his pose make me think he's the Babe Ruth of the grimdark, arrogantly calling out which skulls he's going to crush when he's up to "bat"?

After years of staring enviously at the beautiful banner of the Deathwing, I now have a model carrying this mighty standard, although painting it will be an epic saga all it's own I imagine.  Adding +1 Attacks in Melee to the Lightning Claw and Thunder Hammer Terminator Squad he will be deployed alongside should make that squad incredibly powerful in the Fight phase especially when combined with the litanies of Interrogator Chaplain Sarpedon.  From what I have been reading online durable units that can kick ass in Close Combat to take and then hold objectives seems to be a winning strategy in 9th edition.  Ideally these deep striking close combat monsters buffed by their characters should be powerful enough to take even the most fiercely held objective and then storm shields should help keep them alive until scoring phase.  The ability to take the two five marine squads as a ten man unit and then use Combat Squads when deploying if I need two units instead of one big one, will leave open the Elites slots I need to rotate in whatever characters whose buffs will work best for the current game.

That can of Xandri Dust gets more and more attractive all the time...

Thanks for reading and may your New Year's resolutions involve painting more miniatures.
