Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together Part XIV

 Armada Edition!

I finally got to try Star Wars Armada recently and really enjoyed playing the game.  Much more of a strategic game than the X-wing Miniatures game, Armada gives you a fleet of Star Wars ships to control.  If you have ever wanted to send your squadrons of Tie Fighters to deal with those pesky rebel X-wings or if you have always been dreaming of leading your daring rebel Y-wings on a bombing run versus a Star Destroyer than this is the game for you.  It has an interesting mechanic for the larger capital ships: the bigger the ship, the more turns in advance you have to plan out your orders that determine how the ship will move each turn.  I think my favorite part was having large "armies" (fleets) to play with rather than the small scale dogfights of X-wing.  Thanks for reading and stay safe out there.

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together Part XIII

Digital Edition Part 3 - Fenn Rau and the Serissu Kid

Somehow all of these ships got into position without bumping and were all able to fire at each other...

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together Part XI

Digital Edition

Constable Zuvio versus an A-Wing above the atmosphere of Bespin, just like in all those classic Star Wars stories...
Since no one has played games in person in the last 12 weeks this feature had ground to a halt.  Until this week when I made my first foray into the world of Tabletop Simulator on Steam.  It was a fun way to play and since the computer does most of the work the game actually moves a little faster than reality.  Plus I won with a list that included a Quadjumper so that's always fun.  This should be a fun way to keep playing until being indoors with other humans seems safe again so hopefully tales of spacecraft in extreme proximity should continue.

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together Part VIII

The Hateful Eight

"Shuttle Tydirium this is Tie Fighter squadron Obsidian, please explain why that piece of flying space junk appears to be pulling you in a tractor beam or else we will open fire in accordance with Imperial Navy regulation 187.421"

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together

Part VI Letters From The Front!

We have our first ever reader submission this week!  These Imperial and Scum ships pulled together by the power of the Quadjumpers tractor array was sent in by an eagle-eyed reader.  Keep watching the skies!

My favorite moment in any Star Wars movie is when you see all the Stormtroopers lurch to the left as ships collide mid-space battle.

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together

Part V - Unfangiven

Unsurprisingly the HWK-290 disintegrated in the firing phase...

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together

Part IV - For a Few Fangs More

I guess if you fly this close to the Death Star there's bound to be a lot of Tie fighters around...

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together

Part III - High Atmosphere Drifter

My head canon likes to imagine that they were fighting in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant rather than it just being before I painted one side of the gaming table flat black ...

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together

Part II - Fistful of Fangs

Was there a Rebels episode involving Deathwatch and Kyle Katarn?  Or should I write a Mandalorian spec script about it quick before Favreau thinks of it first?

Happy New Year's bonus picture! I roll this well so rarely I have to highlight it somewhere :-)

Spaceships Are Not Supposed To Be This Close Together

Part I - Rebels, Slave I, and the Quadjumper

Boba Fett must really want the bounty on those Rebels...
The first in a ongoing series of pictures of the X-wing miniatures game and the sometimes crazy positions the ships get into relative to each other while jockeying for the best firing solutions.  My X-wing playing friends live a lot closer than my 40K playing friends and it's a very quick game to set up and play, so as you can imagine I play a lot of X-wing.  Fantasy Flight has really improved the game with the 2.0 version, it's nice to get to enjoy all the ships in the game as opposed to constantly getting crushed by whatever killer squadron lineup is currently dominating the meta.
