Inquisitional Conclave Weeks 3-4

 Tharok Radron, Ordo Malleus

THings are moving along well on my entry for the Inquisitional Conclave.  My inquisitor has a name and I have settled on the classic 2nd edition Hand Flamer as his pistol weapon of choice.  What better weapon for cleansing with fire the many enemies of the Emperor?  Be sure to check out all the fun over at the main site for the challenge, the excellent Neverness Hobby Chronicles.

Inquisitional Conclave 2021 - Week 1-2

 Insert Clever Name Here...

Got the basing textured and started to block in the colors for the base coats on the mini.

The 2021 Inquisitional Conclave has kicked off and I am happy to be participating in the 2nd annual iteration of the challenge.  Be sure to check out the headquarters for the challenge over at the Neverness Hobby Blog. The blog's author is working on an excellent Jaq Draco with the classic terminator Inquisitor model.

As much as I love the RT and second edition era, the Inquisitor sculpts from those days never have excited me.  Last year I painted a RT era "Robed Space Marine" and got him to look the part of a power armored Inquisitor.  This year I have shifted gears and found and GW Inquisitor mini more to my liking, but from the more "modern" 5th edition time frame.  He still needs a name and some story to link him to my entry from last year, so I will keep working on that as I continue to paint the miniature.
Thanks for reading and stay safe out there...

Blurry ebay picture if what the model looked like when I bought it.

Inquisitional Conclave 2020 Completed!

 Inquisitor Jorus Rhyloth, Ordo Xenos

"He almost took my head off the first time he unsheathed that damned-fool giant sword of his in the narrow corridor of Stack Nineteen. The orbital station chief had warned me that old Jorus could act with the impulses of a man a quarter of his age, but I always assumed an Inquisitor would have been more... restrained in his choice of actions.  As soon as we arrived at the meet, I had a suspicion something wasn’t quite, ah, completely human about Karde and his men.  Fast as that realization had dawned on me the old man was moving even faster and if my ears hadn’t caught the hum of that power sword igniting I’d be several inches shorter and just as deceased as Karde and his men were a few seconds later.  Although Jorus had told the planetary governor he was on the trail of dangerous xenos technology being sold on the black market, he was actually masking his true purpose, unsure of how far the influence of the conspiracy reached.  What Inquisitor Ryloth had actually been seeking was sprayed all over the nearest bulkheads when he cut through Karde’s gang, blood that even in the dim light of the hallway we could see had too much purple in it to be the right color for a man.

His superiors at the Ordo Xenos needed visible confirmation of what his investigation of the last few months had led him to: Refinery Stack Nineteen and its surrounding hab blocks had been the sight of a growing xenos infestation for some time. Before the sanitation techs had arrived to scrub the hallway, our squad had already been given orders to accompany Jorus and a regiment from the PDF to lock down all the access in and out of the western rim of the station.  The surprises kept on coming that day, it turned out Ryloth had more than a score of Astartes hidden away on the naval cruiser that had brought him to the station.  Once the combined forces of the Arbites and PDF had sealed off Stacks Fifteen to Twenty-One, he strode in with those armoured giants in a suit of his own jet black power armor to cleanse all those infected by the genestealer cult.  Don’t even get me started on that ridiculously huge banner he wore while leading the sons of the emperor into battle…”

Inquisitional Conclave Week 2

WIP - Inquisitor Jorus Rhyloth, Ordo Xenos

Moving right along with this figure, I added shades to all the colored and metallic portions of the model this week.  The robes and black armor panels were also edge highlighted.  I used Incubi Darkness and Sotek Green for the black highlights for the first time and I really like how they turned out.  I highlighted the red all the way up to Fulgrim Pink, but I may go over the robes with Bloodletter glaze to mute the brightness a little.

Inquisitional Conclave Week 1

WIP Jorus Ryloth, Inquisitor of the Imperium, Ordo Xenos

I got the basecoats on and started to shade the model this week.  Also added a genestealer skull to emphasize the Ordo Xenos narrative to the model.

August 2020 Inquisitional Conclave Entry

Inquisitor Jorus Rhyloth

This frightening gentleman is my entry for the inaugural year of the Inquisitional Conclave run by the excellent Neverness over at The Neverness Hobby Chronicle, a great blog that celebrates wide breadth of the WH40K universe.  Neverness is coordinating a challenge this month to paint an Inquisitor model and with good fortune I managed to pick up a likely candidate on eBay this summer.  I had never seen this model but Neverness helped with some information on the origins of this model which was originally sold as a space marine with tabard.  The combination of the robe, beard, and massive power sword, in my opinion, make this mini a perfect aspirant to the Ordo Xenos.  His background is a little sparse right now, other than his name which is drawn from one of my favorite Star Wars EU villians combined with the name of my favorite city of the Old Ones that rises from the seas when it hears the call from beyond the stars.  I love painting old pieces of GW history and I have never painted an Inquisitor before so this is going to be a fun challenge.  I'll attempt to update my progress here weekly and make sure to see the other great entries at The Neverness Hobby Chronicle.  Thanks for following.
