Twelve Days Of The Deathwing - Day Eleven

 Galactic Synergy

The next project on deck is a level of synchronicity that occurs for painters only during periods of rare interplanetary alignment.  The unpainted member of the Deathwing shown above will be my April entry for the 40K2ndAC II while also being the first terminators I will be painting as part of my project to get some units that are currently good in the "meta" into my army that will hopefully see some use on the tabletop as things seem to be improving here in the states.  Follow along after the jump for more words and a Deathwing project update.

The two Deathwing "Indomitus" Terminators are pewter minis I picked up in a blister back in the days of third edition when I first started playing with a lot of Dark Angels armies.  As I stated in an earlier post about this project, I never could convince myself to drop $40-$50 year 2000 dollars on enough blisters to get me ten or more of these minis to make proper squads.  So those two metal Deathwing were the only Terminators I possessed until several years ago.  Around the time I got back into the hobby back in 2014, a close friend from high school sent me an entire Rogue Trader marine battle company painted in the classic Crimson Fists style from the RTB01 box art.  Along with more than one hundred marines, dreadnoughts, and several classic tanks, there were also a bunch of unpainted miniatures.  The three RT-era proto terminators above were in that lot and when I was looking for units for the second season of the 40K2ndAC I thought I could combine the five metal terminators in a squad that would at least be period appropriate from a models standpoint.  I'm excited to paint these classic minis for the challenge and I can't wait to see what they look like in the bright white colors of 2nd edition Deathwing.  Thanks for reading and stay safe out there.
